ABOUT OUR LOGO:

Our Name "Aur Torah" as well as the Crest were formulated from words from the scripture. The English dictionary description of the word "aurah: an invisible emanation, a kind of spreading light. The word light in Hebrew is "Aur". Proverbs 6: 3 reads, "The Lamp is a commandment, the Torah is the light, Our congregation name is "Aur Torah".

In Ethics of the Fathers, Simon the Just used to say: "By three things the world exists; by Torah, by Prayer, & Deeds of loving Kindness". The words in the ribbon encapsulate those three things.

Another saying from Ethics is worth mentioning: Rabbi Shimeon ben Gamliel (president of the sanhadrim 80 CE) "By three things the world is sustained: By Truth, by Justice, and Peace. (Ethics 1: 18).
